A countdown built for precision

Most timer apps make you scroll through a wheel or fight a tiny keypad just to set five minutes. The TimerHub Countdown Timer is built the other way around: type the exact hours, minutes and seconds you need, or tap a preset and go. It's the tool to reach for when you know precisely how long something should take — a phone call, a timed test, a load of laundry, a round of trivia — and you want the countdown to be exactly that long, no more, no less.

Unlike our general-purpose Timer, this page is built for people who configure before they run: quick presets for the durations people use most, full H:M:S entry for everything else, and mid-run adjustments if the task runs long or wraps up early.

How to use the countdown timer

Pick a preset — 1, 5, 10, 15, 25, 30 or 60 minutes — for an instant start, or set your own duration using the hours, minutes and seconds fields. Press the play button to start counting down. While it's running you can pause and resume at any time, add or remove a minute on the fly, mute the completion sound, or expand into fullscreen for a clean, full-screen view with nothing else on screen. When the countdown reaches zero, TimerHub plays a chime and shows a clear on-screen alert — never a jarring browser pop-up.

Features

  • Full hours / minutes / seconds entry for any duration up to 23:59:59
  • Seven one-tap presets: 1, 5, 10, 15, 25, 30 and 60 minutes
  • Drift-corrected timing engine — stays accurate even in a backgrounded tab
  • Add or remove a minute mid-run without losing your place
  • Calm progress ring plus large, glanceable digits
  • Fullscreen focus mode and a mutable completion chime

Use cases

Cooking: time a simmer, a rest, or a bake down to the second with a preset or a custom duration. Workouts: cap a warm-up or a single exercise block without needing a full interval routine. Exams and timed tests: give yourself (or a class) an exact, visible time limit with a clean alert at the end. Presentations: keep a talk or a Q&A session inside its allotted slot. Screen-time limits: set a firm cut-off for a break, a game, or a scrolling session. Timed breaks: protect a 10-minute breather between meetings so it doesn't quietly become thirty.

Tips

Use the presets for anything round — they're one tap and ready to run instantly. For odd durations (like a 7-minute egg or a 90-second plank), the H:M:S fields take you there in a few keystrokes. If a task is close to done but not quite, tap "Add time" instead of restarting the whole countdown. And if you're sharing a screen or working somewhere loud, switch to fullscreen — it's easier to read from across a room and keeps the countdown as the only thing on screen.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Yes — the hours field supports up to 23 hours, combined with any minutes and seconds, so you can time anything from a few seconds up to just under a full day.

Yes. The countdown is driven by real timestamps rather than a simple tick counter, so it stays accurate even if the browser throttles a background tab — when you come back, the time shown is correct.

Yes. The plus and minus buttons add or remove one minute at any point, whether the countdown is running or paused. Time can never go below zero.

TimerHub plays a gentle chime and shows an on-screen "Countdown complete" notice — never a browser alert box that can freeze the page. You can immediately start again with the same or a new duration.

This page is built around fast, precise setup — seven presets plus full hours/minutes/seconds entry — for people who know exactly how long they need. The general Timer is a simpler, more minimal single-duration tool.

Yes. Use the speaker icon above the controls to mute or unmute the completion chime at any time; your preference is remembered on this device.
